My Name and Places, Plus a Post card?

Well I don't know where to start on this one, I seems George is popping up all over the place!!

Your probably looking at that photo and thinking whats that got to do with the name George, well we didn't think it had anything to do with it, but a couple of weeks ago mom decided that I could do with a new header photo and thought Lilleshall Hill would be the place.
It looked to be quite high, but turned out to only take 15 minutes to climb!!.

Now wind and my fuzz hair don't go, sorry Eric I forgot to get me some must ash wax!!

so we had to move around to get out of it, oh look a game of cricket

Rights lets get onto this Monument and have a look,
Now I call these BIG STEPS!!
(you will have seen this photo in the last post!)

Mom had to give me a leg up.
This is the view from the other side

We carried on walking around it, and found two plaques

and this one

Which had on it

TO THE MEMORY OF
GEORGE GRANVILLE LEVESON GOWER K.G.
FIRST DUKE OF SUTHERLAND
THE MOST JUST AND GENEROUS OF LANDLORDS
THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED
THE OCCUPIERS OF HIS GRACES SHROPSHIRE FARMS
AS A PUBLIC TESTIMONY THAT HE WENT DOWN TO HIS GRAVE
WITH THE BLESSINGS OF HIS TENANTS ON HIS HEAD
AND LEFT BEHIND HIM UPON HIS ESTATES
THE BEST INHERITANCE WHICH A GENTLEMAN OF ENGLAND
CAN BEQUEATH TO HIS SON
MEN READY TO STAND BY HIS HOUSE HEART AND HAND
1833

That was news to us, so we now call it the George Monument.
Lets get on to the photos that my furiends have been kind enough to send in.

Thanks Go To

Click on there names, which are all linked to the blogs.

Thank so much for your time, taking the photo's and emailing them on.

Mom went to feed Joey the attack Budgie the other day, she keeps his seed in this tin, and what's on the front  Established in 1842 George Bassett & Co!
(so me and another furiend indirectly have a link, see if he can spot it : )

The other thing she reckons I broke her watch, yea right I can't stop batteries from working!! well she went out to get a new one, and where did she go, yep George at Asda! like I've said before me names all over the shop!

Here's the post if you would like to know how I got me name

So please keep sending the George places in, and thanks again to all the furiends that has made a contribution to my collection.

Now also this week I got a post card from some special furiends of mine

Those Elgin Pugs just look at that pretty building its called The Butterman's Mansion built in 1889. It is located within The ELGIN Historic District, hey is that where you got your name from? Thanks So much, I'm running out of room on my bedroom wall, so mom said she will get me a memory box, so I can put all these nice things in. Then on rainy days I can get them out and look at all the lovely things you have sent me. She also said she would print out all the photo's you have emailed me and they can go in the box to.
See Yea George xxx

What lovely view of your pretty Englsi countryside. And the wind blown look suits you perfectly, I think.
But just a quiet word in you lug 'ole, pal, before you come up to Scotland next week. Your First Duke of Sutherland is not so well liked in the Highlands....

You really have quite the monumental name there, George. We will have to keep our eyes open around here for a good "George" photo op.

The best part is that we learn so much about lots of different places all because of your name:)

By George! That was a winner of a post.

So. Speaking of George. Blog posts by George. Phrases "By George!" Know what we learned? That saying "By George" is a result of messing around with the words "by Jove", which started getting used in the English language in about the 14th century. It was a way of making exclamation to G.O.D. without actually using the word "God". That was a no-no word at the time ... considered blasphemous. Kinda still is, we guess. In the wrong context. Hmmm. Sounds like something to keep in mind after a few beers or two, George.

In the meantime, we'll be keeping our eyes open for signs of you.
