Whitby Abbey
This was a very wet and busy day, Mom just
used the point and shoot camera, even that got wet!
We starting out at Pickering Station, on the North Yorkshire
Railway to Whitby,
up all the steps to the Abbey back down them.
Worried that because it was raining we wouldn’t find a place
to eat that would let dogs in. But Dad spotted the Pasty Pasty shop that
welcomed dogs inside. We where glad to get out of the rain.
Having finished our dinner we then found a pub that allowed
us in for a drink before making our way back by train
We had a Diesel train pulling us to Whitby , and on the way back about half way it
changed to a Steam train. When we got to Pickering Station, mom tried to get a
photo of it but by the time we got off the train it had been unhooked and was
making its way back up on the other side of the track!!!
To the photos of our day out
Happy Holidays

Glad the rain didn't spoil your day out. Love the ticket...bicycle or dog:-) You're braver than me, I wouldn't have tackled all those steps in the rain...in fact I've been to Whitby and I didn't go up the steps!
It's nice when cafes and pubs are dog friendly, glad you found them, too few in my opinion.
It almost always rains in Yorkshire George... I practically have webbed paws. Mum says she's not sure if she's ever seen Whitby on a sunny day! Deccy x
Great pictures - very atmospheric in the misty rain too :-)And so many steps! We want to check out that pasty shop - it sounds good! Woofs and licks from Magic xx
Great post, though sorry you all got so wet. I'd have thought this would have been ideal 'Saturday Steps' material though!
You both looked very cosy and relaxed on the train George;o)
Lots of love

What an incredible photo-op the abbey is! Just gorgeous photographs!
And I see George and Tess are as adept at begging as Jimmy and Wilson :-)
Think we liked the Cornish pasty bit best but without the pasty tax! Have a lovely Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly
That looks like an exciting visit! You look like you're having lots of fun. I don't know why I don't get to go along when my momma goes traveling if you get to!
You guys always have the BEST adventures! We've never even been on a train before!
Love ya lots,
Mitch and Molly
It looks like you all had a fun time despite the rain. I love the picture of Tess rolling in the grass in front of the Abbey! Thanks for sharing.

G. & T. your pictures are gorgeous as ALWAYS... they TAKE MY BREFFS AWAY.
I just LOVE going along with you.
Wow, what a fabulous trip! The train must have been great. Those pix of you in front of that misty castle are GORGEOUS! Thanks so much for letting me see too.
BTW: Teeheehee, bicycle or dog!

Such an amazing day out, George and Tess! Thank you for sharing these beautiful pictures with us, and allowing us to live vicariously through them. :)
Hugs!
Oh George what a great post. I am going to show it to Human Granny when I see her next week, 'cos she was at a convent boarding school in Whitby, (St Hilda's) from the age of seven until eighteen. I think it was next to the Abbey.
Although I must say my favourite photo is of the cornish pasty. (Was it taxed?)
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
It's not possible that you are allowed in all those places and a train and I AM NOT. I need to pack my bags right away and come live with you!!!! I'm missing out on so much good stuff it's not even funny!!!!
That is really a great adventure and a cool tourist spots, your place is really beautiful.

A great day out even with the bad weather. Wonderful framing in Pickering station, classic diesel traction (London-Edinburgh pre 1981)& Elizabeth the steam bus. A staircase to beat all "steps" records and a fantastic eerie pose with the Abbey backdrop. Much needed hot food & a dry off required, but I'm sure it was worth it.
I missed this post! I love it. We didn't get to Whitby, but it's always been on my 'next time' list. Now I'm more eager than ever to go! I hope I will find you and Tess on the steps, George! :-)
Great way to spend a rainy day! Luv the photos of you in your Mom's lap George watching the sites go by out the window. Priceless :D Beautiful old Monastery too! Glad y'all found some dog furiendly spots for food and beverages :D
Waggin at ya,
Roo
